Our History

In 1987, Reverend Marciano Yates, then an ESOL teacher at Fort Meade High School, noticed the need to evangelize the Hispanic population, particularly the immigrants who had settled in this community. From this, a work dedicated to preaching the good news of Christ was born. In June 2002, following Pastor Yates' departure, the work continued under the leadership of Pastors Rubén and Josefina Rodriguez, who strove to continue the mission of evangelizing all of Fort Meade.

In 2004, the church was incorporated and formalized under the name, Iglesia de Dios Hispana (Hispanic Church of God). During this time, an ecclesiastical foundation was established, creating protocols and ministries that advanced the work of the Lord.
Pastors Rodriguez worked hard to educate new believers in the ways of God according to the Holy Scriptures.

In June 2019, before being called to his heavenly homeland, guided by the Holy Spirit, Pastor Rubén Rodriguez appointed the church's new leadership, which continues to serve to this day. With Christ's help, Pastors Luis Herrera and Linda
Rodriguez have preserved the essence of the Church and at the same time have managed to advance the mission that God has placed in his hands during these last five years, which consists of three main points:

1. Evangelize the world.
2. Disciple the converted.
3. To grow its members in knowledge of the Word of God and facilitate their growth in faith.

In 2023, under God's inspiration, the church adopted a bilingual model, changing its name to OASIS Church with the multiple purpose of welcoming people from diverse cultures and English speakers. Furthermore, this change has allowed for involvement and collaboration with other churches within our community, something that has been a great blessing for everyone.

Over the years, our church has experienced challenges and trials, but even more achievements and victories. All glory goes to God!! As we reflect, we can see the hand of God covering this work and we can say the words of the Prophet Samuel: Ebenezer - Thus far God has helped us, (1 Sam. 7:12). Likewise, we understand that, to continue winning new souls for Christ, we must focus on the work ahead, promoting the message of the cross: Refuge, Redemption, and Restoration!
